Gutter Press was first started years ago as a pimping ground for [info]caillen, [info]geilheit and I. It wasn't really meant to be a public recs journal, but just a place where we could go post links to stuff we wanted each other to see. Back then, I had the blog running on my own server, using pMachine, but its long since gone defunct.

This isn't a shared journal, as they're a bunch of lazy arses, so all pimpage recs will be posted by me. The frequency of recs being posted will depend on how much free time I have to read fics, search through art sites, etc.

I'll mostly be reccing fanfics and Japanese fanart sites. I'll also be reccing non-Japanese artists, as well as online comics and good english information sites from time to time.

I read mostly yaoi/slash as well as gen fics, so majority of my recs will fall under these two. The occassional het fic will also crop up, just not as often. Believe it or not, finding good het fic for the pairings I like is harder to find than good m/m fics.

As I'm known for jumping from series to series, I'd probably be reccing for a lot of series' as time goes by. Right now, I've written the titles I'm mostly likely to rec for on the interest list. However, this proves true only for fanfic, and even then the list is horribly lacking, since I will sometimes read fics from series' I'm not as interested in which I may or may not end up wanting to rec.

The scope is broader though when it comes to art sites, especially since sites usually have more than one series in which the artist draws for, and there are probably a lot of art sites I'd want to rec just for the pretty art even if I'm not interested in the series at all. I come by a lot of those by accident, but I'll rec them if the art is good.

The rating is pretty standard: G, PG, R and NC-17. Read at your own discretion. Most of the time, I will follow the author's rating for her fic (w/c sometimes results in my adding PG-13 to my ratings).

Gen-slash - This is something I have to explain here. Usually, fics can be labeled under one of three categories: gen, het and slash/yaoi. I label slash/yaoi fics as m/m, but since I read a lot of gen fics with possible slash/yaoi undertones, I created a fourth category to label these fics with, and that would be the gen-slash label.

Normally I would label these fics as gen, but since an increasing amount of authors always have a 'gen, with possible *insertpairing* hints' note on their fics, I thought it would just be easier for me to create a sort of subcategory for it. So gen-slash was born. It's purely of my own making, for my own piece of mind and yes, I do realize that it is not a proper label.

Again, the journal is meant as a recs page. It's not for critiques, neither is it meant as a review site. I might say what I like and don't like about a fic I'm reccing. Sometimes I'll probably be much too lazy to say anything at all save something like, "Loved this. Go read it now," and that will be ample content for me.

I've got lots of guilty pleasures! ^_^ Incest (brothers to be specific) and shota being the first to come to mind that may squick certain people. I won't be making a conscious effort to label these however (although I might from time to time), and I'll leave warnings to the authors themselves.

It's hard to say what I like and don't like about a fic, because my taste really vary from fic to fic. I can read a fic which I absolutely hate for some reason or another, and then read yet another fic that follows the same formula as the first fic and then end up absolutely adoring it.

I've recced your fic and...

... you don't want me to link to it. - That's all good and fine. Just leave a comment on the post where I rec your fic and I'll take out the link immediately. I won't take the rec down, but I will take the link out. If you want the entry to be deleted completely, then please tell me so.

... I never commented on your fic. - Yes. I'm sorry. I've got a very bad habit of doing that. I usually like leaving comments that have more content than, "I loved this. It was awesome. Your character portrayal was spot on." So when I read a fic I like but don't have time to comment, I usually end up not commenting at all even after I've taken the time to rec it. My bad.

Outdated links
This is bound to happen a lot. Unfortunately, I simply can't find the time to check up on old recs and see if the links are up to date. So if you spot a rec with an outdated link, please leave a comment so I could try to remedy it.

The archives can be found in the memories. This is the main reason I decided to rec each fic as a separate entry, so I could sort them out properly and have them labeled correctly in the memories. I wouldn't have time to compile everything in its own site (at least not for a long time), so this is as far as it goes.

Art sites will no longer be added onto the memories by series. Please use the tags list to navigate art recs by series.

The memories are updated every weekend, or whenever I have the time. So they're more or less kept up to date.
